Creative Stress

I have noticed that ever since I decided to try out for the Hall of Fame contest at Creating Keepsakes I have not been inspired much. The feeling is such that I feel if I don't have the "perfect idea" why create at all? For me Scrapping and Paper Crafting are great stress relievers and the time I spend at these hobbies is relaxing. Or at least it was............

I will be submitting my pages. I am too the point that even if I just go through my books and pull my favorites I am submitting. I really want to break into having my pages published and the only way to do that is to actually submit something. So on February 4th my portfolio is going airborn to Creating Keepsakes. And that is that.

And then I am going to take a day to just be happy and create for the fun of it!

Life Is Beautiful Bucket!

I made this bucket for my grandma today. She was admitted to the hospital with heart trouble, they say she is going to be alright.

I got the little buckets for 50 cents each at Walgreens right before Christmas. First I tried covering them with cardstock but it just would not stick to the tin so I used this new "life is beautiful paper from Sweetwater. I bought it to use for my Pregnancy Journal so I guess a shopping trip is in order. I used the Cricut alot on this project and it was giving me fits! I never have problems with the cricut after all I am the cricut girl, ya know! Today it was out to get me! I used George and Mini Monograms.

I am not too crazy about the card but it was a quickie using some scraps from the project.

Hall of Fame 2008

Hall of Fame 2008

Whew! Why am I just now realizing that it is time for this contest? I remember last year feverishly working on my entry just to chicken out at the last minute and not mail it. Silly me! I say that I don't care about winning but I just read on the Creating Keepsakes message board from all these ladies who said they didn't think they cared if they won or not and then were dissapointed when they didn't. That will probably be me! 9 layouts plus and altered item. Sounds doable. Of course I love all my layouts until I start viewing them in the "contest" light. Then all of a sudden they don't look so great... my husband was critiquing my work tonight. I must say sometimes he sees things, good and bad, about my work that I don't. Anyone else entering any big contests lately?

First Post

Well it is official.........this is the first post of my Scrapbooking Blog. In this space I hope to show my layouts and other paper projects. And share with you my witty comments about my life, that is if I have any wit left after dealing with my family. They do have a way of making you want to go hide in your scrap space all day. Ever feel that way? I spent a wonderful weekend at a Crop at the Red Lion in Lewiston. I completed 8 layouts. That is a record for me! I will be taking pictures and posting them later. Now I am off to unpack my stuff back into my scrap space so that I can create while DS is at kindergarten. I need to scrap so that my mind is calm when my DSS, aka the teenager, gets home. Scrapbooking is my Zen!
